This spicy margarita contains ZERO artificial ingredients, and is flavored with jalapenos & garnished with Tajin seasoning. At only 114 calories, how can you turn it down?!
Again, as I’ve shared in my Natural Skinny Marg recipe- I love tequila. A lot. It’s my favorite liquor. I don’t really get tired of drinking plain margaritas, but sometimes I like to switch it up. Allow me to introduce- the skinny spicy margarita. If you’ve had a spicy marg at a restaurant, I promise you it’s full of sugar. Most bars make a simple syrup with the jalapenos to cut down on the time required to make the cocktail, which is cool for them-but not us. As we did in my natural skinny marg recipe, we’re going to use agave nectar instead and muddle the jalapenos-because we have time.
This spicy marg will also include a rim garnished with Tijan seasoning, rather than plain salt.
As Usual… My Tequila Disclaimer
I’ve tried a lot of tequilas. I always use reposado for margs, I don’t care for blanco. Reposado is aged for 2-11 months and has a more smooth taste, while blanco is only aged for 0-2 months.
My favorite tequila is Espolon. It’s a mid range brand with amazing flavor. Casamigos is also delicious, if you’re in the mood to splurge. For this, I used El Tesoro. Why? because I went to the liquor store and decided I wanted to spend money. It’s even more expensive than Casamigos, and honestly not that much better.
Here’s what you need to make a skinny spicy margarita:
- 1.5 oz tequila
- .50 oz lime juice
- 1/2 tsp agave nectar
- 1.5 oz water
- 3 jalapeno rings, deseeded
- 2 slices of lime
- Tijan Seasoning & lime wedge to garnish
- Cocktail Shaker
Prep your glass. Run the lime wedge around the rim and dip it into the Tijan seasoning. Add your ice.
To your cocktail shaker, add the jalapeno rings and two lime wedges. Drizzle in the agave nectar and muddle. Add ice to the shaker, and the tequila, lime juice, & water. Shaker for 15-30 seconds. Pour into your glass, and enjoy!

Spicy Jalapeno Margarita
- Cocktail Shaker
- 1.5 oz Tequila Reposado
- 1.5 oz Water
- 1/2 tsp Agave Syrup
- .5 oz Lime Juice
- 3 Jalapeno Rings
- 2 Lime Slices
- Tajin Seasoning
- Muddle the jalapeno and lime wedges in the bottom of a cocktail shaker with the agave.
- Add ice to the shaker, along with the tequila, water, and lime juice.
- Garnish the rim of the glass by running a lime wedge around it, and dipping it into Tajin seasoning.
- Shake for 30 seconds, and pour over ice. Garnish with a jalapeno ring and lime wedge!
