Yes, I learned how to make this because of Sex and the City
I love cosmopolitans. I don’t always have citron vodka, though. This non-traditional quick and easy cosmopolitan uses standard vodka. I’m a huge fan of Sex and the City. If you’ve watched the show, you know that this is the only thing Carrie drinks-and that she usually ends up pretty drunk off of two.
There are two types of alcohol in a cosmopolitan, vodka and Cointreau. Cointreau is an orange liqueur, you could also use Grand Marnier which is similar in taste. Whatever you do, don’t use triple sec. We’re better than that. Patron has recently released their own version also- since this is also used in a classic marg recipe. I recommend sticking to either Cointreau or Grand Marnier. Honestly, they just taste better and are better quality. No one enjoys being hungover.
Let’s talk about the cranberry juice. Traditionally, this drink is made with unsweetened cranberry juice. I personally love myself, and use standard issue cranberry juice. Not cranberry cocktail, regular old cranberry juice. Try to find the “no sugar added” type though, we don’t want it dry but we also don’t want this to become too sweet.
Vodka. I love vodka. Not as much as I love tequila, but I’ve got a set few brands that I drink exclusively. For this cosmo, I went with Cathead. Typically, cosmos are made with citron vodka, but I find that doesn’t really make a difference. When I want to be traditional, I’ll use Kettle One Citron.
Cathead Vodka is distilled in Mississippi in the first legal distillery in the state. It’s smooth and they have a cool backstory. You should check them out.

Add all ingredients to a shaker and shake for 30 seconds.
Pour into a coupe or martini glass and ask yourself why restaurants charge $13 for these!
